News Production Workshop – The Underlying Facts

The expression “News Production Workshop” refers to the newsroom which has to do with the sum total of actions in the newsroom.

News is an outcome from many hands. Hence, it is also known as a bulletin. In the newsroom there is the newsroom personnel The editorial board, the editorial board, the editorial policy and the News Production Process. Television News by its concept is a thing of beauty and the art that you choose from the television , which complements the technology. Newsroom is the workshop where ideas are made by transforming things that were insignificant to something.

The reporter who works in the newsroom is the person who created the news, that is, he is the one responsible for the creation of news. In the newsroom workshop include the boss, his assistants, together with their equipment. The bulletin is the last product of the newsroom. The process of creating the news begins with the Assignment Editor who assigns a reporter to a beat. The reporter is able to create or write a report (a film or non-film story) and sends it for the duty editor who proofreads and edits it for technicalities and news-worthiness. The report is then passed to the Production Secretary, who creates a clear copy.

In addition, the Editor is required to check for typos and then assembles the story and aligns it to the other stories in order to create the day’s news bulletin. If it’s film-related (for TV) the tape (or disc) containing the shots or rushes are taken for the Audio Visual Film Editor, who edits the images in accordance with the story. The final edited material is sent to the Transmission Controller (TC), the scripts that are being compiled in the bulletins are given to the Duty News Caster who rehearses it and casts it live on air.

The broadcast is controlled and supported by the Studio (Floor) Manager, Studio Cameramen, Engineers and other studio employees. Within the Transmission Control Unit, the Newscast is directed by the Transmission Controller (TC) and assisted by the Sound and Vision Mixers.

This stage of the News Production Process is concluded with an Post-Mortem analysis. Post-Mortem is an expression used in medical practice that has been borrowed into journalism to mean the final touches of the editorial crew. In journalism, Post-Mortem analysis refers to the meeting of all those involved in the making of the day’s newspaper to discuss or review the success or failures that day’s News Production Process.

Graphically visually, the News Production Process follows in the following order: Assignment Editor, Reporter Producer Secretary, Editor Film Editor News Editor News Caster, Transmission Controller, and Post-Mortem. The process on radio is almost identical except for the absence of visuals.
